Malta, 393 positive cases and over 40 recovered from COVID-19

In the last 24 hours, Malta registered 9 new cases of COVID-19; three of the cases are migrants residing at the Ħal Far open centre. Till today, Malta has registered a total of 393 coronavirus cases.
The Superintendent of Public Health, Professor Charmaine Gauci confirmed that two people are still in intensive care, one of the patients is breathing through the help of a ventilator while over 40 patients have recovered from the virus.
The new cases include a Maltese pensioner aged 71, a Maltese woman, 50, a Maltese man, 30, a British woman, 23, who resides in Malta and an Indian carer, 34, working at an old people’s home which is under lockdown. The three migrants are from Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Sudan. Professor Gauci stressed that the contingency plan is to continue isolating people at the open centre.
